COVINGTON – The Covington football team visited the residents at the Stillwater Nursing and Rehabilitation facility on Wednesday and honored long-time Buccaneer fan, Jon Eshleman.

Eshleman, a life-long Covington resident, has been known for his support of all of the Buccaneer athletic programs throughout his entire life. He began attending athletic contests back in the 1950s and rarely missed a game until a few years ago when he was forced to go into the facility that was previously known as the Covington Care Center.

While on hand at the facility, another long-time Covington supporter Glen Hollopeter introduced Eshleman to the football players and shared the information on what Jon did to support Covington athletics over the years. Eshleman was known for sitting in the front row in the center of the bleachers for nearly every sporting event he attended. He also told some of the players some of his memories from the past of watching Covington athletes compete.

The Buccaneer football team honored Eshleman by presenting him a team poster, an old football helmet and a hat that had the historic wishbone C logo on it from the 1970s.

Coach Austin Morgan gave the residents an overview of the culture of the football team and introduced the players to the residents. The team also spent time and had lunch with those within the facility.
