COVINGTON – Jordan Shafer, a Covington Graduate in 2003 who was a standout football player for the Buccaneers and in college at Morehead State, explained to the current Covington football team the important work ethic and focus that leads to success in the sport.

Covington has had so many talented athletes throughout the history and Jordan Shafer is one who played football in a very high standard. He was a key player throughout his entire football career from 1999 to 2002 as he helped lead the teams to a combined 39-1 regular season record and four straight state playoff appearances.

He had great coaches at Covington with head coach Ted Peacock and assistant coaches Doug Swartz, Dave Tobias and Kevin Finfrock. This led to Jordan becoming one of the best Wide Receivers in the history of the program and a standout defensive back as a Safety. Jordan was also a standout special teams returner throughout his high school career.

Once he graduated in 2003, Jordan advanced to college football at Morehead State in Kentucky. He was a starting special teams player as a freshman and then a starting Safety throughout the rest of his college career for the Eagles. During his time at Morehead State, he helped lead the Eagles to three PFL Championship games.

On Monday when he visited the Covington Buccaneers, Jordan explained everything he went through to set himself up for success in football. He also was excited to see his former high school football coaches Ted Peacock and Dave Tobias, plus allowing his 10-year-old son participate in the Youth Football Camp.

Hopefully the current Buccaneer players use Jordan’s knowledge on how to excel in football.
