COVINGTON – Members of the Covington community honored A.J. Ouellette for his accomplishment of capturing a Grey Cup Championship with the Saskatchewan Roughriders and how he has represented Covington throughout his life.

This event was held at the Covington Fraternal Order of Eagles, which provided outstanding spacing and the ideal environment for community members to visit A.J. Ouellette, a legendary Buccaneer athlete and a 2014 graduate from Covington High School.

During this A.J. Ouellette Day, Glen Hollopeter and Covington’s mayor Lee Harmon started the honorary with a great explanation on how Ouellette has represented this small community very well throughout the years. They explained Ouellette’s accomplishments as a running back in the CFL throughout his career.

Fittingly, his former Buccaneer teammate Dalton Bordelon explained how A.J. has positively impacted so many people due to his love for everyone. Plus, Tom Barbee, his former high school wrestling coach, and Roger Craft, his former athletic director, also honored A.J. with their explanations on how well he has executed throughout his timeframe as a Covington student and athlete.

Additional speeches about A.J. Ouellette were conducted by Ted Peacock and Joe Schmidt, Buccaneer legends in the sport of football.

What also made this day so great for A.J. was the FaceTime call from his former high school football coach Dave Miller, an amazing person who had a huge impact for his football athletes throughout his entire coaching career. Dave Miller unfortunately wasn’t able to make it to the event due to a recent surgery.

A.J. Ouellette, who represents Covington well through his mentality, always gives so much of himself and he continued his generosity by providing free autograph posters to attendees on a day where he was honored.

Thank you community members who attended to honor this great person, A.J. Ouellette.
