SASKATCHEWAN – A.J. Ouellette, a 2014 graduate from Covington High School, re-signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on a one-year contract extension, which was announced on Sunday, February 1, 2026.
This next season for Ouellette will be his seventh year in the Canadian Football League with the 2020 season cancelled due to Covid-19. This upcoming season will also be Ouellette’s third year as a member of the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Throughout his career A.J. Ouellette has been a key contributor in leading his teams into two Grey Cup Championships – first in 2022 with the Toronto Argonauts and then in 2025 with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
So far throughout his 62 career regular season games in the CFL, A.J. has compiled 3562 rushing yards on 700 carries and scored 21 rushing touchdowns. He has also accumulated 949 receiving yards on 110 receptions and scored five touchdowns.
The CFL is primarily a passing league, but Ouellette has been able to put together two regular seasons with over 1000 rushing yards – 1009 in 2023 and 1222 in 2025.
Another part of his biggest impact in the CFL football games is Ouellette’s ability to protect his quarterback teammates with outstanding blocking. Rarely has any of his quarterback teammates been sacked when Ouellette was blocking in the backfield.
With A.J. Ouellette’s hard work preparation throughout his entire career will hopefully lead to another successful season for the Roughriders in 2026.
REMINDER:
On Sunday, February 8, 2026 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the Covington Fraternal Order of Eagles, Covington is honoring A.J. Ouellette for his accomplishments as a member of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, who won the Grey Cup Championship in 2025.
