COVINGTON – The Covington Buccaneers’ football team held its 18th annual Midnight Hit last night at Smith Field despite unfortunate weather circumstances.

The original plan was to allow all Covington kids in grades third through 12 to compete in competitions similar to the NFL Combine and in some punt, pass and kick competitions starting at 9:00pm, but a storm that passed through the area prevented this from happening.

Fortunately the storms passed through by 10:00pm, which allowed the Buccaneers to perform in their annual Midnight Hit. Plus, the coaching staff allowed any members in the community to witness the team Skull Session at 10:30pm in the weight room.

Despite the weather and the heat, there was a nice group of supporters who showed up for the Skull Session and the Midnight Hit. This ignited energy and enthusiasm to the Buccaneers as they performed with solid effort from start to finish.

Credit goes out to many of the players for their hard work and determination. Plus, a huge amount of credit goes out to the cheerleaders for their contributions to the event and their cheering routine they performed for the hometown crowd.
